Check Out Sweet Gift Penguins Gave Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin

Ovi got a sick new watch on Thursday

“The Great 8” had a great Thursday.

Alex Ovechkin, just weeks after breaking the all-time goals record, experienced a first in Thursday’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins — he was cheered at PNC Paints Arena.

Pittsburgh wanted to pay its respects to the greatest goal scorer in history, so it cheered him on before a season-ending win. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin went above and beyond, though, as the star duo presented him with a custom Rolex watch celebrating his record-breaking moment.

Ovechkin even dressed up for the occasion!

“From us to congratulate you for the record,” Malkin said in Russian.

“Wow, nice,” Ovechkin said as he opened the box. “Thank you, guys.”

The Penguins will have to wait to see Ovi again, as their season ended with a victory over his team. The Capitals will move on, however, with the legendary goal scorer looking to add more to his trophy case.
