Aaron Rodgers Offers Steelers Fans Next To Nothing In Latest Update

The 41-year-old quarterback is keeping all options on the table

A whole lot of nothing.

That’s probably how Pittsburgh Steelers fans felt after listening to Aaron Rodgers on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday afternoon.

Rodgers said he is putting all his energy into what’s going on in his personal life, and because of that he is not ready to make any decision about his future. The four-time NFL MVP doesn’t know what decision will be made — retirement remains on the table — or when it will be made.

“This entire time I haven’t felt like I owed anybody some sort of decision at any point,” Rodgers said. “This is my life. Like I said, things are different now. My life is different. My personal life is different. I have stuff in the inner circle that I’m intimately close to, that’s really important to me. I’ve been up front with them (NFL teams) about that.”

Rodgers insisted he’s been transparent with the Steelers, specifically. He pushed back on the narrative that he’s holding any team “hostage” with the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching (April 24). If Rodgers’ uncertainty means a suitor takes its hat out of the ring or makes a different move behind center, he said he’ll understand.

Rodgers confirmed he discreetly flew into Pittsburgh and met with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan. Rodgers chatted with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and threw to Steelers receiver DK Metcalf, who he called a physical specimen. The lines of communication remain open, Rodgers said.

“There’s been no deadline and I’ve talked to Mike T (Tomlin) many times,” Rodgers said.

McAfee pressed Rodgers on whether the Steelers would be the favorite, if Rodgers plays again. The 41-year-old quarterback, however, sidestepped the question and instead kept all options on the table.
