The Pittsburgh Steelers have flirted with Aaron Rodgers all offseason as they look to find a starting-caliber quarterback to lead their offense.
But with Rodgers dragging his feet on making a free-agent decision, the Steelers have their eyes on someone else.
It appears Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has become smitten with Shedeur Sanders and it’s possible Pittsburgh uses its first-round pick on the Colorado quarterback if he’s still available at No. 21 overall.
“I am told … and I tend to trust where I’m getting this information, Mike Tomlin really likes Shedeur,” NFL draft analyst Todd McShay said on “The McShay Show.” “If he’s there at 21, Shedeur could very well be a Pittsburgh Steeler.”
Where Sanders ends up going on draft night remains one of the biggest questions of the NFL’s marquee offseason event. It’s possible the New York Giants take him at No. 3 overall, but if that doesn’t happen, Sanders could freefall down the draft board.

Sanders recently visited the Steelers, and it sure sounds like a place he could see himself playing next season.
“I understand the mindset and why they win a lot,” Sanders said last week on the “Up & Adams” show. “…Just how he (Tomlin) is as a person, the values that the team has. What he preaches to his staff down, it’s similar to my dad.”
McShay also noted that he can see a scenario where the Steelers have both Rodgers and Sanders on the roster.
“If Aaron Rodgers is there, I don’t think one would have to do with the other,” McShay said. “It’s two different elements to this. Aaron Rodgers is to win games now. Drafting Shedeur Sanders, if he’s there at 21, would be to finally get the solution at the most important position for the long term.”
