Why Andrew McCutchen Sparked Fashion Reboot For Pirates

Phitens are so back

The generation that enjoyed a childhood in the late 2000s knew exactly what Andrew McCutchen brought to the ballpark for the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday.

McCutchen and several Pirates sported Phiten necklaces with the iconic black and yellow style. The good mojo may or may not have played a role in Pittsburgh’s win over the Washington Nationals.

“Just put it on and see what happens,” McCutchen told Hannah Mearns Monday. “And they saw what happened.”

“When it comes to baseball, you’ll do whatever it takes to turn things around,” McCutchen told reporters Monday. “The good old friends at Phiten worked something out where they could send me some. They did. It’s just kind of cool that we’re able to do something cool and have it translate into the game and us have the game that we did today.”

The Pirates try to string another win together with an old-school look against the Nationals.
