Steelers Rumors: Significant Update In Aaron Rodgers Pursuit

Could Rodgers sign with Pittsburgh on Friday

Aaron Rodgers might be on the verge of signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Friday, Rodgers visited the Steelers facility, and there is an indication that a deal “could be forthcoming.” The Steelers insider’s sources cautioned about a commitment from Rodgers and said a deal might not be done Friday. The four-time NFL MVP met with head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini added that Pittsburgh’s offer to the 41-year-old remains open. This was the first free agent visit for Rodgers, who also is contemplating the New York Giants for his next team. However, The Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported Rodgers doesn’t have any other meetings scheduled right now.

Pittsburgh set its sights on Rodgers since the start of free agency, allowing Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to enter the market. The Steelers reportedly are comfortable with Mason Rudolph as an option if Rodgers chooses not to sign in the Steel City. They’re also exploring the 2025 NFL Draft for potential quarterback options.

The decision ultimately is up to Rodgers as teams play the waiting game for his choice.
