A former Jets players reportedly is expected to join the Steelers.
No, it’s not Aaron Rodgers. Instead, Pittsburgh is expected to sign cornerback Brandin Echols, according to FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz. The 27-year-old recorded 122 combined tackles, 16 pass breakups and five interceptions with two pick-sixes in his four-year NFL career. New York selected Echols in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Echols projects as more cornerback depth for a young position group led by Joey Porter Jr.
The Steelers also reportedly will make another depth signing with Kenneith Gainwell agreeing to a deal. The headline of the offseason was the reported trade for DK Metcalf. However, the primary focus is quarterback, which Pittsburgh will have to wait and see when it comes to Rodgers’ decision.
