The Steelers reportedly added to their running back room after news broke regarding the departure of Najee Harris.
Pittsburgh agreed to terms on a one-year deal with running back Kenneth Gainwell, according to multiple reports Wednesday morning. Gainwell is able to sign his contract when the league year begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
The reported addition provides a running mate for likely starter Jaylen Warren. Harris reportedly agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year deal.
Gainwell spent the past four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, who drafted the Memphis product in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Gainwell’s tenure in the City of Brotherly Love came with backup duties to Miles Sanders (2021-22), D’Andre Swift (2023) and Saquon Barkley (2024).
He’s totaled 1,185 career rushing yards on 280 attempts with 721 receiving yards on 102 catches.
