The Pittsburgh Steelers already added to their offense by acquiring game-changing wide receiver DK Metcalf via trade.
But on Monday, a notable subtraction took place for the unit.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Chargers reached an agreement on a one-year, $9.25 million deal with former Steelers running back Najee Harris.
Harris, who the Steelers drafted in the first round in 2021 out of Alabama, was a productive and durable playmaker during his four seasons with Pittsburgh. The 27-year-old ran for 1,000 yards and at least six touchdowns in each one of his NFL seasons. He also started all 68 games since entering the league.
But Harris, at times, lacked big-play ability. He ran for only 3.9 yards per carry during his tenure with the Steelers and his playing time decreased each season. Harris, who was a Pro Bowler as a rookie when he suited up in 84% of the snaps, played just 50% of the snaps this season. But Harris should fit in well in Jim Harbaugh’s run-focused scheme with the Chargers.

The Steelers obviously feel comfortable moving on from Harris and having Jaylen Warren take over as Pittsburgh’s feature back. The Steelers on Monday placed a second-round tender on Warren, which in all likelihood will keep him in Pittsburgh for at least one more season.
