Nick Yorke briefly made his MLB debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates after a midseason prospect swap with the Boston Red Sox.
He homered twice in his first 11 games for the Pirates, though he struck out 12 times in what he felt was an overly-aggressive stretch at the plate. Yorke arrived in big-league camp in Bradenton, Fla., with that improvement in mind for his season ahead for Pittsburgh.
“It was great to get a little cup of coffee to be able to work on this offseason,” York told MLB Pipeline’s Sam Dykstra on MLB Network. “… For me, it was big on pitch selection. I felt like I was chasing a little bit, especially with two strikes. Try to hone in on that and get a good pitch to hit.”
The Pirates already had multiple position changes amid an abundance of middle infielders. Yorke will still greatly factor into that rotation in some stretch in 2025.
