NFL Rumors: Steelers Have ‘Shown Interest’ In Trade For Star QB

Pittsburgh reportedly has called about Matthew Stafford

Count Matthew Stafford among those the Steelers are doing their due diligence on this NFL offseason.

Pittsburgh has “shown interest” in the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. Breer on Monday reported the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders also have kicked the tires on Stafford.

The Rams permitted Stafford to speak to other teams, including about a new contract during the week of Super Bowl LIX, per Breer. Those conversations now have Stafford’s camp believing the 37-year-old could receive $50 million annually on his next contract.

Stafford has two years remaining on his four-year, $160 million contract which included $130 million guaranteed. However, dissatisfaction over his contract has created the possibility Stafford will play elsewhere in 2025.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on Monday reported Los Angeles engaged with some of the teams Stafford spoke to and trade compensation has been discussed.
