The Pittsburgh Pirates added plenty of legitimate talent through the draft in recent years. Their 2024 first-round pick gets a chance this spring to show his abilities in a professional setting.
Pittsburgh selected high school infielder Konnor Griffin with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. While Pittsburgh has a surplus of middle infielders who forced a position change, Griffin arrived at his first spring training and already turned a few heads.
Griffin showed some early strides of power from the right side in live batting practice. You can check out his home run here.
The 18-year-old enters the season as the Pirates’ No. 2 prospect and the No. 43 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline.
