Conflicting Report Surfaces About Steelers-Jaguars Trade Conversation

Steelers fans probably shouldn't expect Trevor Lawrence in Pittsburgh

There are conflicting reports as to whether or not a trade conversation involving Trevor Lawrence ever took place.

ESPN’s Michael DiRocco on Thursday reported the Pittsburgh Steelers never called the Jaguars to discuss a potential trade for the 2021 No. 1 overall pick. A member of the Jaguars organization told DiRocco there’s “no chance” they will trade Lawrence and called such an idea “ridiculous.”

The report from DiRocco surfaced after an initial report from Ryan Burr of the Big 10 Network. Burr reported the Steelers “made inquiries” about a trade for the 25-year-old. Lawrence, who just concluded his fourth season in Jacksonville, signed a big-money extension with the Jaguars last offseason.

The Steelers have been involved in quarterback speculation for weeks with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both scheduled to hit free agency. Pittsburgh has been linked to New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers as well as the Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford.

Just don’t count on Lawrence arriving in Pittsburgh anytime soon.
