Sidney Crosby Powers Penguins To Win In Overtime Against Utah

Crosby got it done once again

The Pittsburgh Penguins finally got back in the win column Wednesday night.

Pittsburgh has been working hard to get things on track, and their win over the Utah Hockey Club was a step in the right direction. The Penguins managed to battle back in the third period, forcing overtime, and nabbed a 3-2 victory when captain Sidney Crosby found the back of the net with a game-winning backhander.

The game-winning goal was the 95th of Crosby’s career — moving him ahead of Steve Yzerman to the 13th-most in the history of the National Hockey League. Crosby’s goal also marked his third-straight game with a score, giving him 16 on the campaign.

The 37-year-old also dished out an assist on defenseman Marcus Pettersson’s goal in the second period. It was Erik Karlsson who tied up the game in the third for Pittsburgh. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic had a good showing for the Pens, making 27 saves on 29 shots. The Penguins’ win moved the team to a 21-24-8 record.

Pittsburgh will aim to make it two wins in a row on Saturday night when they welcome the Nashville Predators to town. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. EST.
