Pirates Reportedly Bring Back Former All-Star For Reunion On One-Year Deal

Pittsburgh has added to their roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly made a move in the form of a reunion.

MLB.com’s Alex Stumpf reports that the Pirates have agreed to a one-year contract with second baseman and outfielder Adam Frazier. The deal is a Major League contract worth $1.525 million, per Stumpf.

Frazier was drafted by the Pirates back in the 2013 MLB Draft, selecting him in the sixth round. The 33-year-old spent his first five and a half seasons with Pittsburgh before he was dealt to the San Diego Padres in the 2021 season. He has since spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, and San Diego Padres.

Over his nine-year MLB career, Frazier has a .264 batting average with a .327 OBP, .385 SLG, and .713 OPS. His best season came in his final year with the Pirates, where he represented the Buccos in the MLB All-Star Game — his lone All-Star campaign. Frazier’s 2021 numbers saw him hit .305 with a .368 OBP, .411 SLG, and .779 OPS while hitting five home runs and driving in 43 RBIs. His latest season with Kansas City saw him play in 104 games, batting .202 with four homers and 22 RBIs.

The reported addition also adds a veteran presence to the Pirates alongside Bryan Reynolds and Andrew McCutchen.
