The Pittsburgh Steelers need to add some more firepower to the wide receiver room this offseason and the easiest way to do so will be through the National Football League Draft.
Pittsburgh will make its first selection at No. 21 in the first round of the upcoming draft. The Steelers definitely will have an opportunity to add some talent and NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah projected the Steelers to select Texas star receiver Matthew Golden with their first-round pick.
“I don’t think the Steelers could go wrong drafting Golden or Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka here,” Jeremiah said. “They go with Golden in this case, but they are both professional route runners with outstanding hands and toughness.”
Golden widely is considered to be one of the top receivers in the incoming draft class. He appeared in 16 games this season with Texas and racked up 987 receiving yards across 58 receptions. Golden also had nine touchdown receptions on the season for the Longhorns.
The Steelers need to add some talent in some way. Landing Golden would be a phenomenal pickup, but the Steelers shouldn’t stop there. There will be some serious talent available this offseason, including Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins in free agency. It was an up-and-down season for the Steelers, but the team has some solid building blocks in place. If they can add some more pieces to the receiver room this offseason, it will only help.
