The Pittsburgh Penguins could be without one of their top forwards this weekend.
In Pittsburgh’s 5-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night, winger Bryan Rust had to leave the game with a lower-body injury. It was an unfortunate loss for the Penguins, as Rust has consistently been one of the best players every night for the team.
The latest update regarding Rust’s status came from SportsNet Pittsburgh’s Josh Getzoff, who reported that the lower-body injury of the 32-year-old will leave him day-to-day. There’s a chance that Rust will miss the game on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken. If that’s the case Anthony Beauvillier could be an option to slot up into Rust’s usual spot among the top six forwards.
So far through 43 games this season, Rust has the second-most goals on the team with 19 and the third-most points with 38. His potential absence will be a difficult one if he is to miss any game action.
Pittsburgh will face the Kraken on Saturday afternoon, looking to get back in the win column after the tough loss against the Ducks. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m. EST.
