Penguins Ride Five-Goal Performance To Earn Win Over Kings

Pittsburgh is back on the winning track

The Pittsburgh Penguins have had an up-and-down season but managed to deliver one of their best wins of the season on Monday night.

Pittsburgh made its way to the West Coast to face the Los Angeles Kings — earning themselves a dominant 5-1 victory on the night. The Penguins scored the first three goals of the evening and closed the night with two more.

It started with Kevin Hayes scoring on the power play — marking his eighth goal of the season. That was followed up by Sidney Crosby scoring his 13th goal later on in the first period. The Penguins’ captain finished with two points on the night, dishing an assist on Anthony Beauvillier’s goal in the third period — bringing him to 38 helpers on the season. Evgeni Malkin and Cody Glass added the other two scores on the night.

Alex Nedeljkovic had a strong night between the pipes for his second start in a row, facing 26 shots and saving 25 of them. The Penguins netminder finished with a .962 save percentage.

The Penguins will look to keep things going on Thursday night when they head to Anaheim to face the Ducks. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. EST.
