The Pittsburgh Steelers have some important pieces heading to free agency this offseason.
Pittsburgh’s season is now over and changes certainly could be on the way this offseason. One player who is going to be worth watching is Pro Bowl running back Najee Harris. He has been discussed a lot this season after the Steelers turned down the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.
Harris is just 26 years old and has four straight seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards under his belt to begin his career. He certainly should be a hot name on the open market this offseason and Spotrac is currently his projecting his market value to be $27 million over three years.
That seems like a pretty fair price for Harris. He has been an integral piece of the Steelers’ offense over the last four seasons. It’s unclear if the Steelers would pay a price like that or are interested in bringing him back this offseason in general. The Steelers have a lot of questions marks right now with the quarterback position being the biggest one at the moment.
Once free agency gets closer, Pittsburgh should look to find clarity at the quarterback position before anything else. Along with Harris, both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are heading to the open market. It would make sense for the team to bring back Harris along with one of the quarterbacks, but we are going to have to wait to find out.
