Former Steelers Coach Reportedly Getting Chance To Interview For Jets Job

Will the Jets land the former Steelers coach?

The New York Jets are looking for a new head coach and it seems like the team is leaving no stone unturned.

New York cut ties with Robert Saleh early in the season in a shocking move. Now, the Jets’ season is over and they are turning their full attention toward filling the head coach job and general manager role. Reports were all over the place on Monday as different candidates were mentioned for New York.

The Jets are looking everywhere for their next coach and reportedly even will consider a former member of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ staff. Former Steelers senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach Brian Flores currently is the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive coordinator and the Jets reportedly put a request in to interview him this offseason, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

“The Jets have put in a request to interview Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores for their head-coaching opening, per source,” Breer said.

Flores is a veteran coach who has spent time as a head coach before as a member of the Miami Dolphins. He should be highly sought-after this offseason after a great season with the Vikings. Minnesota had one of the most devastating defenses in football this year and Flores clearly is a big reason why.

Minnesota shocked the football world this year and finished the season with an impressive 14-3 record. The Vikings are one of just four teams with 14 or more wins this season but they are the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs. Keep an eye on Flores. Could he end up landing the Jets job this offseason?
