Jets Reportedly Showing Interest In Steelers’ Arthur Smith For Head Coach

What will the Steelers do this upcoming offseason?

The Pittsburgh Steelers should have their eyes ahead to the playoffs.

Pittsburgh has a tough matchup ahead of it in the National Football League Wild Card Round next weekend against the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers certainly have a chance to win and advance past the Ravens, but it will be a tough game. While the Steelers’ full focus should be on the playoffs, that’s not the case for every team.

Week 18 now is behind us and there are just 14 teams left in the league in playoff contention. Seven teams from each conference earned a playoff berth and the rest of the teams now are going home and now can get a head start on the offseason. One team that already is looking ahead is the New York Jets.

New York had an underwhelming season and now is looking to fill its head coach and general manager positions. At this point, it’s unclear who will get the jobs. But, the Jets are doing their due diligence at least. A handful of different names were reported on Monday of people the Jets have at least some interest in an interview with.

One person the Jets want to interview for the head coach job is Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“The Jets have requested to interview Steelers OC Arthur Smith, source said, an intriguing candidate to watch there,” Rapoport said.

Smith has been a head coach in the NFL in the past as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Things didn’t work out there and he joined the Steelers and has done a good job since. Keep an eye on him as the head coaching jobs across the league start getting filled.
