Mike Tomlin Addresses Steelers Turnover Issue Ahead Of Week 18

Tomlin spoke about how the team needs to take care of the ball

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense needs to return to form for the playoffs.

The Steelers are 10-6 after losing three games straight. During this period, the offense has struggled, averaging a measly ten points per game. Russell Wilson and the rest of Pittsburgh’ offense also has dealt with turnover issues, turning the ball over five times across the last three games.

While speaking in a press conference ahead of the final week of the regular season, Tomlin addressed the turnover issue the Steelers offense has been dealing with and what the team needs to do to fix it.

“Man, we turned that ball over going into the end zone, that’s significant,” Tomlin said. “We turned the ball over to start the second half on the short field, provided those guys a short field, and you just can’t give offensive units and offensive players like Mahomes short fields. You can’t take points off the board when you’re in scoring position.”

“Take care of the football and stay on schedule. I think when we stay on the schedule and we take care of the football, we’re a formidable group and at times, particularly in the last several weeks, we’ve been spotty in those regards.”

The Steelers red zone offense has struggled, and their turnovers have come at inopportune times, which has hurt the team as they take on playoff caliber teams. Pittsburgh has already clinched a playoff spot, but will look to bounce back against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 18. Tomlin is right in saying the team needs to take care of the football as the prepare for the playoffs.
