Mike Tomlin is hopeful T.J. Watt will take the field when the Steelers travel to the Ravens for a pivotal Week 16 clash.
“I’m optimistic about the availability of T.J. based on what I’ve seen today,” Tomlin told reporters Monday morning, per the team.
Watt suffered an ankle sprain late in Pittsburgh’s 27-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. He walked off the field with five minutes left and did not return.
The presence of the four-time All Pro has proven to be key for the Steelers. Since Watt entered the league in 2017, Pittsburgh is 1-10 in games in which he does not play.
Watt’s health is all the more important this time around with the 10-4 Steelers and 9-5 Ravens set to take the field in a game that will go a long way in determining the AFC North.

“We play for a division title this week,” Tomlin told reporters. “Those that are healthy will play.”
Watt unfortunately will have one less day to get healthy as the rivalry clash is scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
