Steelers Offense Struggles Without George Pickens, Fall To Eagles

Pittsburgh didn't have it offensively

With George Pickens unable to suit up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday’s game against one of the NFL’s most complete teams was tough.

Pittsburgh traveled to Philadelphia to face off with the Eagles in one of the best AFC vs. NFC matchups on the schedule. Unfortunately for the Steelers, not having their best offensive weapon ultimately cost them as they tried to keep up with Philadelphia — losing by a score of 27-13.

It wasn’t working through the air or on the ground, as the Steelers had a total of 163 yards in the game — which was doubled by the Eagles’ 401 total yards. Russell Wilson only completed 14 passes on 22 attempts, going for 128 passing yards and a touchdown to tight end Pat Freiermuth. Overall, Wilson finished with a QBR of 36.1. Rushing-wise, Najee Harris led the way with just a mere 14 yards on six attempts. The leading receiver for Pittsburgh was Calvin Austin III, who did his best to step up — catching five balls for 65 yards on five targets.

The Steelers’ defense did have three sacks — two from T.J. Watt and one from Alex Highsmith. The bad news, however, is that Watt went down with an injury late in the game, leaving his status in question.

Pittsburgh will hope to have both Watt and Pickens on the field on Saturday in a massive game against the Baltimore Ravens.
