The Pittsburgh Steelers must love what they are seeing from kicker Chris Boswell this season.
Pittsburgh entered Sunday’s Week 15 contest against the Eagles with an impressive 10-3 record. Most of the chatter swirling around the team this season certainly has been the play of quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, receiver George Pickens, and the defense as a whole.
Boswell is someone who certainly isn’t appreciated as much as he probably should be, but he has had a fantastic season so far. He has been so good this season and dependable to the point where he broke the Steelers’ record for most field goals in a season on Sunday, as shared by the team.
“Boz just broke his own franchise record for most field goals made in a season,” the team shared on social media after Boswell hit his 37th field goal of the season.
Before Sunday’s impressive showing, Boswell previously had hit 36 field goals in a season in 2021 for Pittsburgh. The National Football League single-season record for field goals in a season is 44 set by David Akers in 2011 with 44 as a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

With time to go in Sunday’s contest and three more weeks in the regular season, there’s a real chance that Boswell could end up breaking the record this year himself. Pittsburgh has had a lot of players who have had good seasons this year. Boswell likely hasn’t gotten talked about as much as he should, but he has been great.
