Steelers Taking Chance On Two-Time Champion On Practice Squad

Pittsburgh made yet another move

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the best teams in football but that isn’t stopping them from making even more moves.

Pittsburgh has been looking for ways to add even more depth to the organization and made another signing on Tuesday. The Steelers signed two-time Super Bowl champion safety Eric Rowe to the practice squad, according to the team.

“The Steelers signed defensive back Eric Rowe to the practice squad,” the team announced. “Rowe, who is in his 10th season, was originally signed to the Steelers practice squad on Nov. 20, 2023. He was elevated for the teams Week 16 game against the (Cincinnati Bengals) when he had his first Steelers interception, Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks and Week 18 against the Ravens. Rowe, who started against the Bengals, Seahawks and (Baltimore Ravens), had 29 tackles, 22 of them solo stops, an interception, a forced fumble and a tackle for a loss.

“In the Steelers AFC Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills, Rowe had eight tackles, and broke up a third-down pass that forced a field goal attempt the Steelers blocked. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers.”

Rowe is a nine-year National Football League veteran and has spent time with the Eagles, Patriots, Dolphins, and Steelers throughout his career. He won two championships as a member of the Patriots and now joins another Super Bowl contender with Pittsburgh. It’s unclear if he will see some time with the active squad, but it wouldn’t be shocking.
