The Pittsburgh Steelers will face off against the Washington Commanders on Sunday with a chance to improve their record to 7-2 on the season.
Pittsburgh is one of the hottest teams in football but will not be at full strength when they take on the surprising Commanders. Pittsburgh, unfortunately, will be without the services of second-year linebacker Nick Herbig on Sunday as he deals with a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo.
“Steelers OLB Nick Herbig (hamstring) has been ruled out,” DeFabo said. “Deadline acquisition Preston Smith may be thrust into action sooner than later. (Terrell Edmunds) also out. He played primarily in dime. (Mike Tomlin) mentioned Tuesday Cam Sutton may fill a role in that personnel. Kazee another option.”
Herbig is 22 years old and has been a key piece for the Steelers’ defense this season. He has appeared in five games and has 2.5 sacks and eight total tackles over that span. It’s unclear how long his hamstring injury will keep him out for, but hopefully, he is able to make a full recovery and return to the field in the near future.
Pittsburgh has a tough matchup against the Commanders this weekend that it will have to do without Herbig. The Steelers have an even bigger matchup the following weekend against the rival Baltimore Ravens. Hopefully, he is able to get back on the field for that clash.
