The Pittsburgh Steelers can’t seem to catch a break in the wide receiver trade market.
Pittsburgh spent all summer trying to get Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers. It seemed like a deal was close, and then, at the last second, he decided to sign a new deal with San Francisco.
The Steelers also reportedly were in the mix to land Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders but missed out as he was traded to the New York Jets. Pittsburgh has been in trade rumors ever since but hasn’t been able to get another receiver.
The 2024 National Football League trade deadline is approaching, and Pittsburgh is running out of time. Pittsburgh is still looking to make a move and reportedly tried to land Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk before he suffered a broken collarbone, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“The Steelers were in the process of trying to get a deal done for Christian Kirk, and league sources told ESPN there was a reasonable chance that the Jaguars wide receiver was going to wind up in Pittsburgh until he broke his collarbone last Sunday,” Schefter said.

Kirk would’ve been a great option for Pittsburgh. He had 379 receiving yards on 27 catches before going down with his injury. He had over 1,100 receiving yards in 2022 and was well on his way to reaching those numbers last year if it wasn’t for injuries.
Unfortunately, he suffered a broken collarbone and will miss a lot of time.
Now, the Steelers need to go back to the drawing board to see if they can get a deal done before the Nov. 5 trade deadline.
