Steelers Insider Predicts Star Running Back To Leave In Free Agency

Will Harris leave the team in free sgency?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been on a roll lately, winning their last three games.

One thing that has been different for Pittsburgh throughout the last three games is the offense. The Steelers’ offense has exploded recently, scoring 32, 37, and 26 points in the past three weeks. The return of quarterback Russell Wilson has been impactful, but star running back Najee Harris has also contributed to the Steeler’s success.

Harris has looked great the past three weeks, rushing for over 100 yards three games in a row. In the offseason, Pittsburgh chose not to pick up Harris’ fifth-year option. His recent success has left people wondering whether the team will retain the running back in the offseason.

While speaking on 93.7 The Fan, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly predicted that the Steelers have slim chances of retaining Harris in free agency.

“I just don’t think they’d be interested enough,” Kaboly said. “And there’s a two-way street. Is he interested enough to come back after not getting the kind of money or not picking up his option either? He’s earned every right in the world to go out there and see what free agency offers him. And if he gets anything like the offseason this year, it’s gonna be a decent amount of money.”

Harris has been a consistent and reliable back for Pittsburgh since being drafted, playing in 17 games each of the past three seasons. If he leaves in the offseason, the Steelers will likely look to the draft to add another option at running back. Pittsburgh will continue to look to Harris to push the offense forward.
