Titans Wide Receiver Suggested As Potential Steelers Trade Target

The Steelers have another potential target

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a strong start to the season and could find an offensive boost from the Tennessee Titans.

Pittsburgh’s hunt for a second wide receiver to pair with George Pickens has proven difficult. The Steelers had a reported offer for Brandon Aiyuk during the preseason before he signed a contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers. They then showed interest in Davante Adams before the receiver was dealt to the New York Jets.

Neither of those panned out and the Steelers are left looking for answers to boost their offense, which may come in the form of a multiple-time Pro Bowler. NFL Trade Rumors’ Logan Ulrich wrote that Pittsburgh should look to acquire Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to pair with Pickens.

“If the Steelers miss on (Mike) Williams, the other option who fits this archetype and would be a notable improvement over the current group in Pittsburgh outside of WR George Pickens is Hopkins,” Ulrich wrote. “He’s more expensive — due an $8 million base salary in 2024 — and the Titans so far haven’t been shopping him, but if they keep losing (which seems likely) you would expect that to change.

“The Steelers have enough cap space to take on Hopkins’ contract initially and then restructure to regain budget to operate during this season. He’d be a sure-handed option opposite Pickens who could be a reliable possession threat for whoever is throwing passes for the Steelers. As far as what Pittsburgh would have to give up, something like a fifth-round pick could do it because of Hopkins’ significant salary.”
