The Pittsburgh Steelers have been very public about their desire to trade for a high-end wide receiver this season.
Pittsburgh’s offense looks completely different compared to last year, with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson leading the unit. Since Diontae Johnson’s offseason trade to the Carolina Panthers, the Steelers have been actively trying to get a deal done for another receiver.
Pittsburgh was close to trading for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk in the preseason, but he ultimately re-signed with the 49ers. They were also in on Davante Adams before he got traded to the New York Jets. With the flurry of receivers switching teams, more potential options are popping up.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that teams have been calling the Los Angeles Rams about potentially trading for star wide receiver Cooper Kupp before the trade deadline.
“Sources say during a frenzy of receiver calls that teams began calling the Los Angeles Rams to inquire about the status of Cooper Kupp, who is recovering from a high ankle sprain he suffered on Sept. 15 and is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against Las Vegas,” Rapoport writes.

“The 1-4 Rams have not turned the page to 2025 and even considering a trade for Kupp would be complicated and multi-faceted. But the interest from teams is there, thanks in part to some of the online speculation that has happened since the season began.”
Kupp is a Super Bowl champion and former Offensive Player of the Year who had 1,947 receiving yards in 2021. The 31-year-old is under contract through 2026 and would significantly boost Pittsburgh’s offense. If the Rams are open to parting with Kupp at the deadline, expect the Steelers to be interested in the veteran wideout.
