The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a good place at 4-2 through the first six weeks of the regular season and are second place in the division behind the Baltimore Ravens.
Quarterback Justin Fields has helmed the offense to this point of the season with Russell Wilson sidelined, and Pittsburgh’s offense is already better than last year. Now, the Steelers are trending toward starting the healthy Wilson going into Week 7.
As much as their offense has been impactful this season, Pittsburgh’s defense has been elite. They’ve allowed the fourth least points in the league this season, allowing just 14.3 points per game. Pittsburgh’s fan presence in their four road games may be an asset for the team’s formidable defense.
In a postgame press conference following the Steelers’ Week 6 win against the Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Mike Tomlin spoke on how impactful Pittsburgh fans have been for the team on the road this season.
“I think the first thing that needs to be said is (I’m) just really taken aback by the support we got here from our fans,” Tomlin said after the win. “Steeler Nation continually shows up. I thought it was awesome. The environment for a road venue was special to be a part of.”

Fans continue to support Pittsburgh, filling opposing stadiums with black and gold. The Steelers are already a great defensive team, and opposing teams have to do a silent count due to the amount of noise Steelers Nation makes, which only makes the defense’s job easier. Pittsburgh is 3-1 on the road this season and will now look to win at home against the New York Jets in Week 7.
