Steelers Predicted To Sign Lions Defensive End In Free Agency

Who will the Steelers add?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are building something special.

Pittsburgh has a young roster that is proving that it is capable of winning games. The Steelers are 4-2 on the season so far and have won games in different ways. Pittsburgh’s defense has been phenomenal, Justin Fields has been great under center, and other players have stepped up on offense.

Things are looking up for Pittsburgh, and it likely will continue to add next offseason to the core. With each passing week, Bleacher Report’s scouting department puts together a list of each team’s biggest weaknesses with ways to fix them currently in free agency, next offseason, and in the draft.

This week, Bleacher Report predicted that the Steelers will land defensive end Levi Onwuzurike from the Detroit Lions next offseason.

“2025 Free Agency: DT Levi Onwuzurike, Detroit Lions,” Bleacher Report said. “One day, Cam Heyward is finally going to show his age. The 35-year-old continues to play at a high level, but Father Time is undefeated. The Steelers are also pinning a lot on Larry Ogunjobi on the interior as well. With Leal most likely out for the season with a neck injury, the future picture for the for defensive interior is somewhat dim.

“Levi Onwuzurike would provide a boost. It has taken him a while to break through in Detroit, but he has earned an important role this season. He’ll look to cash in during free agency and would be a good balance of talent and youth in the Steelers’ system.”

It’s too early to make a prediction like this, but it is an interesting idea. He is just 26 years old and has 1.5 sacks so far on the young season. Could it make sense to bring him in next offseason?
