Steelers Reportedly Not Considering Trade Involving Star Quarterback

Pittsburgh will be busy

Will the Pittsburgh Steelers pull off a trade in the near future?

Pittsburgh has just a few weeks to make a decision. The 2024 National Football League trade deadline will come and pass on Nov. 5, and Pittsburgh likely will be active ahead of it. The Steelers have a chance to make some noise this year and should be a playoff team.

The Steelers could use a boost on offense and already have been linked to a handful of possible playmakers to bring in. Pittsburgh has mainly been linked to receivers as possible trade fits.

Pittsburgh has been mentioned in some other trade rumors, though. The Steelers have two very capable quarterbacks in, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Fields has started each game for the Steelers so far this season, but some have wondered if Wilson could take over.

This hasn’t been the case so far, and this has led others to wonder if Wilson could be moved ahead of the trade deadline. While this is the case, the team hasn’t considered a move, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero as transcribed by Bleacher Report’s Scott Polacek.

“Russell Wilson is currently the backup quarterback behind Justin Fields for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that doesn’t mean the AFC North team is open to trading him,” Polacek said. “There have been no trade talks surrounding Russell Wilson,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Sunday. “I don’t get the sense there’d really be an appetite to trade him even if the phone rings.”

It doesn’t sound like a move is coming involving Wilson. There’s a chance he could see some game action at some point. That seems like a more likely option than a trade right now.
