Beloved Pirates Star Projected To Get $10 Million Contract This Winter

One beloved member of the Pittsburgh Pirates will be available this winter.

Pittsburgh star outfielder Andrew McCutchen has been a fantastic member of the organization. He spent the first nine seasons of his career as a member of the Pirates. Over that stretch, he racked up five All-Star nods and took home the 2013 National League Most Valuable Player Award.

He left Pittsburgh and bounced around the league a bit but returned to the Pirates ahead of the 2023 season and has been solid over the last two years. McCutchen’s return to Pittsburgh has been everything the team could’ve hoped for, but it’s unclear if he will be back in 2025.

McCutchen will be a free agent and currently is projected to get a deal worth just over $10 million across one year. Pittsburgh certainly could use him and it would be great to have him back in town. That is an expensive deal, but McCutchen certainly is worth it.

The 38-year-old may be nearing the end of his playing career, but he still has something left in the tank. He appeared in 120 games with the Pirates in 2024 and had 20 home runs and 50 RBIs. Bringing him back could help provide stability to the Pirates’ lineup and a fantastic mentor for some of the Pirates’ young players.

Pittsburgh is loaded with young talent. Bringing someone like McCutchen back certainly could help on the field while also helping to put the club’s young players on the right path forward. Don’t be surprised if the two sides get together this winter.
