The 2024 National Football League trade deadline quickly is approaching and will pass on Nov. 5.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be an interesting team to watch over the next few weeks. Pittsburgh currently is 3-2 on the season and has the makings of a playoff team. The Steelers have one of the best defenses in the league, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson as quarterbacks, and some solid playmakers on offense.
While this is the case, the Steelers have been looking to add a wide receiver. If the Steelers can pull off a major trade over the next few weeks, it very likely will be for a pass-catcher. With the deadline approaching, though, speculation is starting to run rampent.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox put together a list of 10 players who could be dealt ahead of the deadline and mentioned Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young and surprisingly had Pittsburgh listed as “potential suitors.”
“Quarterback Bryce Young made a garbage-time appearance for the Panthers in Week 5, but he isn’t expected to return to the starting lineup soon,” Knox said. “Andy Dalton is expected to retain the role for Week 6. Young actually played well in his limited Week 5 window, though, going 4-of-7 for 58 yards against a good Chicago Bears defense. That display might be enough to generate a little more trade interest now—though next offseason still looks like the most realistic trade window for Carolina…

“Young might also interest the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a functional starter in Justin Fields but have no quarterbacks under contract beyond this season. Fields is still young enough to be a long-term solution for Pittsburgh. If his play slips, however, Young could be the next former first-rounder on whom the Steelers take a flier.”
It is true that the Steelers don’t have a starting quarterback under contract beyond this season. But, the Steelers added Fields and Wilson and it is more likely that one of them earn a new deal with the Steelers than a trade for the 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick.
