Penguins Goalie Exits Preseason Game With Lower-Body Injury

Nedeljkovic will play a key role for the Pens this season

It’s a tough start for the Pittsburgh Penguins on the injury front as another key member of their projected 2024-25 roster went down in preseason action.

After 13 minutes of action on Monday night against the Detroit Red Wings, netminder Alex Nedeljkovic went down with what has been described as a lower-body injury. The goalie only made two saves in his few minutes of action before being replaced by Joel Blomqvist, who finished the game for Pittsburgh.

Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan gave some insight to Nedeljkovic’s injury, revealing the lower-body injury but it remains to be seen what the extent is.

“Ned’s being evaluated for a lower-body injury, and that’s all I have for you at this point,” Sullivan said, as transcribed by Penguins team reporter Michelle Crechiolo. “Our medical team will look at him tomorrow, and then we’ll have more definitive answers.”

Nedeljkovic will play a major part alongside Tristan Jarry this season, as the tandem is expected to lead Pittsburgh this season between the pipes.
