The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off their first loss of the season and received even more bad news after the game.
The Steelers sit at 3-1 after losing to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. Pittsburgh went down 17-0 early and had to claw their way back before losing 27-24. On the positive side, Justin Fields had his best game statistically, throwing for 312 yards and a touchdown while adding another 55 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Unfortunately for the Steelers, they are also dealing with more injuries now. Pittsburgh’s offensive lineman James Daniels will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles tear, according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
“Steelers starting right guard James Daniels has an Achilles tear and will miss the remainder of the season, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Monday,” Pryor reported. “Daniels suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s 27-24 loss as the Indianapolis Colts’ pass rush converged on quarterback Justin Fields. In obvious pain, Daniels gripped his calf and had to be helped off the field. He was in a walking boot and using crutches in the locker room after the game.”
“It is the third season-ending injury for a Steelers offensive lineman. Center Nate Herbig tore his rotator cuff during training camp, and right tackle Troy Fautanu suffered a knee injury during practice the week after his first start.”

Pittsburgh will likely have to move rookie Mason McCormick to fill the hole left by Daniels’s injury. The Steelers hopefully should be getting Isaac Seumalo back from injury soon. Pittsburgh could look to add a lineman in free agency or the trade market as their offensive line continues to deal with injuries.
