Steelers Quarterback Called Hypothetical Trade Target For Dolphins

Will the Steelers swing a deal?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have some tough choices to make over the next few weeks.

Pittsburgh currently is 3-0 on the young season heading into its Week 4 clash against the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers have been good, but this upcoming clash against the Colts will be telling. Justin Fields has been under center for the Steelers, with Russell Wilson dealing with a calf injury.

Fields has been great so far this season for the Steelers and clearly is fighting for the starting job. Once Wilson is fully healthy, will the Steelers give him the starting job back? Well, if he keeps winning, that isn’t likely. In that scenario, Wilson could be expendable and even an enticing trade option.

Because of this, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox mentioned the Miami Dolphins as a possible landing spot for the Steelers veteran quarterback in a trade.

“Wilson’s calf injury opened the door for Fields in Week 1, and the 25-year-old may be on the verge of closing that door behind him,” Knox said. “The former Chicago Bears starter has played well enough while guiding Pittsburgh to a 3-0 start that there’s no reason to turn back to Wilson barring injury. The Miami Dolphins have placed Tua Tagovailoa on injured reserve with his latest concussion, and they are the most obvious landing spot for the 35-year-old.

“Miami got poor results from Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle in Week 3. If recent addition Tyler Huntley isn’t any better, the 1-2 Dolphins could become desperate…Potential Suitors: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots.”

The National Football League trade deadline will pass in November, and Wilson will be someone to monitor closely, especially if Fields continues to perform.
