Penguins Cut Two More Players From Camp, Move To 62 Players

The Pens are making moves

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to make cuts from training camp, assigning two players including a potential surprise to move the roster down to 62 players.

Pittsburgh announced Wednesday that Tanner Howe and Finn Harding have been assigned back to their junior teams after taking part in training camp with the team. Howe will return to the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League and Harding will re-join the Brampton Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League.

Howe was selected by the Pens in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The forward was picked with the No. 46 overall selection and signed a three-year, entry-level deal in the offseason. As the captain of Regina, he scored 28 goals, dished out 49 assists, and recorded 77 points over 68 games.

Harding was a seventh-round selection in this year’s draft. The 19-year-old defenseman had a strong showing with the Mississauga Steelheads in 2023, recording 34 points on 10 goals and 24 assists.

Pittsburgh has a long way to go before the final roster is set. The Penguins will get their next look at the team in preseason action when they head on the road Saturday at 7 p.m. EST against the Detroit Red Wings.
