Although the Pittsburgh Steelers remain undefeated, there are gaps in their roster that they need to fill.
The Steelers are 3-0 after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers this past week. This game was the best offensive performance of the early season for Pittsburgh, with quarterback Justin Fields throwing for 245 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. Despite the Steelers performing well this season, they have had their fair share of issues.
Pittsburgh lost a rookie offensive lineman recently due to injury. They drafted right tackle Troy Fautanu in the first round of the National Football League Draft with the 20th overall pick. Fautanu was only able to play in one game this season before suffering a knee injury that likely will force him to miss the rest of the regular season.
To fill the void left by Fautanu’s injury, Pittsburgh is signing former New England Patriots offensive tackle Calvin Anderson according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
“The Steelers are signing veteran OT Calvin Anderson, source says,” Garafolo reported. “Anderson, who was released off IR by the Patriots last month, worked out for Pittsburgh today. Rookie OT Troy Fautanu was placed on IR the other day.”

Anderson will provide much-needed depth for the Steelers behind Dan Moore Jr. and Broderick Jones. The undrafted veteran most recently spent time with the Patriots before being released. Before that, he played 743 snaps for the Denver Broncos from 2020 to 2022. Anderson gives the Steelers more tackle options as they prepare for a matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
