Sidney Crosby, Penguins Agree To Two-Year Contract Extension

Crosby isn't going anywhere

The Pittsburgh Penguins and their captain will be sticking together this season and beyond.

Pittsburgh’s president of hockey operations and general manager Kyle Dubas announced that the team and Sidney Crosby agreed to a two-year contract extension, signing the Penguins’ captain through the 2026-27 season with a yearly value of $8.7 million.

Crosby will be entering his 20th year in the NHL when the 2024-25 season kicks off on Oct. 9 against the New York Rangers. The Pens captain is coming off one of his most impressive seasons to date last year, scoring 42 goals, dishing out 52 assists, and recording 94 points. It was his most goals scored in a campaign since the 2016-17 campaign when he potted 44 goals.

Entering his age-37 season, the center will try and get Pittsburgh back to the playoffs after missing them over the last two seasons. While he hasn’t won the Hart Trophy since the 2013-14 season, Crosby remains one of the best players in the NHL even as he gets closer to the end of his career.

With the contract extension locked in between Crosby and the Pens, it’s more and more likely that the 37-year-old ends his career in a Penguins jersey.
