Despite not getting to play in the game against his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers made sure to perform for Russell Wilson.
Justin Fields has stepped into the starting quarterback role in Week 1 and Week 2, leading Pittsburgh to a 2-0 record despite some shortcomings on the offensive end. The latest win came Sunday against the Denver Broncos, as Fields threw for 117 passing yards and the first offensive score of the season for the Steelers, connecting with tight end Darnell Washington. With strong defense again, Pittsburgh ended up with a 13-6 victory in the Mile High.
After the game, the Steelers gave Russell Wilson the game ball after he had spent his last two seasons with the Broncos. But it was not just any game ball, as Fields called it a “petty” one in his postgame press conference.
“I think we all know Russ got kind of did dirty last year,” Fields said, as transcribed by ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “So I know he wished he could have played today in this game, but it’s awesome getting a win for him. He got a petty game ball.”
Even with a quarterback competition between these two controlling their time with the Steelers thus far, fans will like to see that Fields has the back of Wilson — no matter who is starting.

The Steelers will look to turn their record to 3-0 on Sunday against the undefeated Los Angeles Chargers.
