Chris Boswell’s Efforts Should Not Be Forgotten In Steelers’ Week 1 Win

Boswell scored all 18 points for Pittsburgh

Most kickers have a solid day in the NFL if they convert a few extra points and can knock a field goal through the uprights to boost their team. For Chris Boswell, he went above and beyond in a major way on Sunday for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the 18-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, all 18 of those points came from Boswell by way of six field goals. He converted those at a 100% clip for Pittsburgh, including a 57-yarder to show off his power.

That would have been enough of an impact on the average day for an NFL kicker. Boswell still wasn’t done on the day for the Steelers.

Pittsburgh punter Cameron Johnston went down during the game with a knee injury. That left the Steelers to turn to Boswell to execute yet another job on the afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium — no problem for the 10th-year pro. Boswell netted a 43-yard punt on his lone attempt of the day, helping the Steelers flip the field.

Without an offensive touchdown to show, the Steelers relied on a turnover-forcing defensive effort in addition to Boswell’s sensational day to move to 1-0 as the only AFC North to start the season with a victory. While the NFL will feature memorable performances throughout the campaign, the busy day for Boswell should stand out, at least after Week 1.
