Steelers Listed As Potential Trade Suitors For Giants Wide Receiver

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still on the market to add another receiver after missing out on trading for San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk.

Pittsburgh’s offense will look significantly different than it did last season. The Steelers have improved their offense by bringing in quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in the offseason. They also brought in wide receiver Van Jefferson. Pittsburgh has been looking to add another receiver to pair with George Pickens since they traded Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers.

The Steelers are listed as potential suitors to trade for New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton according to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox.

“Like the Patriots, the Giants aren’t expected to be particularly good this season,” Knox said. “This could eventually lead to New York selling off pieces who will hit the open market next spring. Trading Slayton would save the Giants $3.6 million in cap space, so if the right offer comes along, they will probably listen.”

“While the 27-year-old isn’t a No. 1 receiver, he’s been a fairly consistent producer in New York. He’s topped 700 receiving yards in four of his five seasons, and he could still be a long-term ancillary target for another franchise. As mentioned, the Steelers lack a proven No. 2 receiver. Slayton could help fill out a receiver group that consists of Van Jefferson, Scotty Miller, Calvin Austin III and rookie Roman Wilson behind Pickens.”

Adding a receiver like Slayton would be a major boost to the Steelers offense. He is a speedy, deep-play threat that would perfectly complement Pickens. The Steelers will open the season with Jefferson as their No. 2 receiver but could trade for a receiver if an opportunity arises.
