Russell Wilson is ready to make his Pittsburgh Steelers debut this weekend.
The 35-year-old quarterback will make his debut for Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Head coach Mike Tomlin told the media about the decision on Thursday, adding on that Wilson will be out there as long as he’s able to avoid any setbacks with the calf injury that has bothered him throughout training camp. Tomlin expects Wilson to get four series or so in the game, as reported by ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
Wilson signed a one-year, $1.21 million contract in the offseason after being released by the Denver Broncos. Despite being benched by Denver last season, the nine-time Pro Bowler finished with 3,070 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
It remains to be seen as to who will join him on Saturday when it comes to the starters, but Tomlin stated that everyone who is healthy will play. That should mean that the Steelers and fans should get to see the likes of George Pickens and Najee Harris out there as well with the team’s new signal caller.
The Steelers will look to make strides when they take the field on Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills at 7 p.m. EST.
