Steelers Legend Reacts To Aaron Rodgers’ Bizarre Headset Issues Vs. Ravens

Rodgers' helmet malfunctioned at the worst possible time

Sunday night’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens was crazy for numerous reasons, especially in the second half. From missed kicks and blown coverages to a wonky interception, the game had everything.

It even had Aaron Rodgers suffering multiple headset malfunctions, causing him to burn the Steelers’ last two timeouts midway through the fourth quarter. After the headset in his first helmet failed, it failed again in his new helmet, resulting in communication issues that nearly cost the Steelers the game.

Rodgers was understandably furious about the issues in such an important game and was shown screaming on TV.

Ben Roethlisberger, who was Pittsburgh’s quarterback for 18 seasons, experienced the same problem during his playing days and knows how Rodgers felt.

“We always wore a wristband…for that exact reason. Because every time you went to New England, the headsets went down. Coincidence? Crazy,” Roethlisberger said on his “Footbahlin” podcast this week. “But you always had a bailout. Now I just saw that Aaron doesn’t have that, so then you are in trouble.”

Rodgers’ issues happened in his home stadium, too, making them even more bizarre.

With a playoff berth on the line for both teams, they nearly derailed the Steelers’ drive and season. Pittsburgh was down four points at the time and needed a touchdown to retake the lead.

Fortunately, Pittsburgh got one on Kenneth Gainwell’s two-yard run immediately after the communication woes were sorted out, helping the Steelers to a wild 26-24 victory and their first AFC North title since 2020.
