Safe Or Out? Adam Schefter Offers Latest On Steelers’ Mike Tomlin

Schefter is 'Leaning to Safe' when it comes to Tomlin

Mike Tomlin, who holds the NFL record for most consecutive non-losing seasons, is expected to return for a 20th campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter spoke about Tomlin’s future on Sunday morning ahead of Week 18 and included him in the “Leaning to Safe” category.

“Now, he’s got one year left on his contract and there’s a feeling from many that he will fulfill what he’s started,” Schefter said on ESPN’s “NFL Countdown.”

Tomlin and the Steelers can win the AFC North and thus earn a playoff berth if they beat the Baltimore Ravens on “Sunday Night Football.”

“He’s the longest-tenured head coach in the National Football League. Nineteen years,” Schefter said. “The fans in Pittsburgh were calling for his firing about a month ago, yet he is on the verge of winning a division. And the feeling is that he’ll be back in Pittsburgh for at least another year, though there will be conversations that occur.”

Schefter hinted Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, however, might not be in for the same outcome as Harbaugh’s situation in Baltimore remains “up in the air.”
