How ‘Atmosphere Could Get Ugly Fast’ For Steelers-Ravens Week 18 Game

Everything's on the line in Week 18

It all comes down to Sunday night, when the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will play not only for the AFC North title, but for the conference’s final playoff berth.

After an embarrassing road loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers host the Ravens on “Sunday Night Football” in Week 18 with everything on the line.

Baltimore could have two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson back under center, while Pittsburgh is expected to see superstar linebacker T.J. Watt return to action.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sports enterprise reporter Noah Hiles discussed on Monday morning what the vibe could be like at Acrisure Stadium for the primetime showdown, warning the Steelers of what could happen if the Ravens get off to fast start.

“Steelers fans have become understandably impatient in recent years, most notably chanting for Mike Tomlin’s dismissal this season. Should the home team start slow against Baltimore, the atmosphere could get ugly fast,” Hiles wrote. “It’s interesting to see how quick things can turn in this town. Entering the weekend, some were starting to believe this team could make legitimate noise in the postseason. But that group likely lessened in numbers following Sunday’s loss.”

Pittsburgh could’ve clinched the division with a win vs. the Browns but now, faces a dire scenario.

“The Steelers’ no-show effort in Cleveland has undone all the good will it built the three weeks prior. Fans will show up hoping for a win, but it might not take much for the crowd to once again turn against Tomlin and his team,” Hiles said.
