Mike Tomlin Reaches Historic Milestone In Steelers’ Wild Win Over Lions

Tomlin keeps on winning

Love him or hate him, Mike Tomlin has done a lot of winning for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tomlin’s in his 19th season as the Steelers’ head coach, and they’ve never had a losing record under his watch, despite having some questionable quarterbacks lately. Pittsburgh clinched another winning season on Sunday with a wild 29-24 road win over the Detroit Lions, improving to 9-6 with two games remaining.

The victory was also the 200th of Tomlin’s NFL career, 191 of which have come in the regular season.

It was fitting that he reached the milestone with one of the winningest quarterbacks of all time in Aaron Rodgers, who’s been in the NFL even longer than Tomlin. Rodgers earned his 173rd career win as a starter, 162 of which have come during the regular season.

After the game, Tomlin walked off the field with Rodgers and Cam Heyward, who’s in his 15th season with the Steelers and has spent his entire NFL career playing for Tomlin. A seven-time Pro Bowler, Heyward’s been the backbone of Pittsburgh’s defense for over a decade.

While Tomlin has had a ton of success over the last two decades, there’s still work to be done. The Steelers still need to clinch a postseason berth, after which they’ll try to earn their first playoff win since early 2017.

Tomlin will look to add to his win total over the next few weeks with divisional games against the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens to close out the regular season.
