Chicago Bears fans will root for Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
The Bears didn’t have much luck against the Green Bay Packers during Rodgers’ long tenure, but they earned a massive 22-16 comeback win over their NFC North foe on Saturday night. Following that overtime triumph, they’ll rely on an old nemesis for help.
Chicago can clinch a playoff appearance if the Steelers defeat the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.
For a while, it looked like Rodgers would instead have a chance to assist Green Bay’s playoff quest. The Packers would be cheering on the franchise legend to punch their playoff ticket with a Steelers win over the Lions had they bested the Bears at Soldier Field.
Green Bay led by 10 late in the fourth quarter, but Chicago kicked a field goal, recovered an onside kick and tied the game with 24 seconds remaining to force overtime. Caleb Williams threw a walk-off 46-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore in overtime, moving the Bears to 11-4 under first-year head coach Ben Johnson.

Rodgers didn’t get an opportunity to face the team he once claimed to own, as the four-time MVP missed their Week 12 encounter with a wrist fracture. He returned the following week and has led the Steelers to back-to-back wins.
The Steelers can spark a Bears celebration, but they can’t wrap up the AFC North on Sunday. Regardless of how Weeks 16 and 17 unfold, they would secure the division title with a Week 18 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
